This is the first ICS couse that can not be offered online and must be classroom. 23 trainers have now attended Train the Trainer courses and will begin offering classes around the 17 County region. Please make every effort to place your comand personnel in one of the classes offered above.

SKYWARN: For all Law Enforcement officers tasked with "spotting" and reporting weather activity during thunderstorm and tornado season, SKYWARN training is recommended. At ths time of year, the National Weather Service offers a slate of 2 hour courses at many towns in the region. ***Information*** The Permian Basin Law Enforcement Academy is currently in "At Risk" status with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. We went into that status in September after a poor TCLEOSE pass rate with the 78th Academy. We have submitted an action plan to TCLEOSE and our Advisory Board regarding our plans for improvement. Specifically, we have implemented an inspection process of all Academy processes (NOTE: A copy of that Inspection will be attached to the email with this calandar for your information or click here for a pdf copy of the inspection),that includes a testing process for the duration of the Academy that precedes any endorsement for a Recruit to take the TCLEOSE exam. Specifically, a Recruit must pass all monthly test, and must score an 80% or better on the exit exam to be endorsed for TCLEOSE testing. We are already seeing very good results with this process in the 79th and 80th Academies, and our expectation is that the grades on the TCLEOSE exam will rise to the level that we can be taken off of "At Risk" status by August 31, 2008. Your comments are certainly welcome. Thank you for your support of PBLEA.

Training Tracks: LE - Law Enforcement, CORR - Corrections, COMM - Communications, EMHS - Emergency Management Homeland Security, FIRE - Fire Services, MULT –several different disciplines or from the community.  This is for record-keeping and informational purposes (and does not exclude any attendee from any track).
