Informants Recruiting/Handling & Management
A two-day HIDTA training seminar that will provide the skills and knowledge to develop, supervise and manage the use of informants in all aspects of criminal investigations. Informants can be a direct line to the criminal underworld to provide the investigator with up-to-date intelligence or the information to solve current or ongoing crime problems. Improper informant procedures or policies can lead to compromising an investigation, civil liability or even the possibility of injury or death to Police and Civilians alike. A standard department procedure and a written informant program are a positive force to ensure successful results from informant use. Course topics include but are not limited to: General guidelines for Informant/Officer relationships, History of Informants, Proper Informant Training, Informant motives, Informant cultivation, Informant obligations, Informant coordination, Informant Contracts, Entrapment Issues, Case Studies, Payment and Documentation, Maintaining Informants records. Registration is through HIDTA. Please contact us at training@pblea.org for a registration form. This form must be completed and sent to HIDTA.
